Spring 32 BC to Summer 30 BC.
After the assasination of Caesar and the destruction of the assasins, the control of the Roman world was contested between Caesar's adopted son (Octavian) and Caesar's general (Antony). While Antony had the dubious aid of Cleopatra of Egypt, Octavian was aided by the great general Agrippa. The two forces clased in the naval battle of Actium where Antony was decisively defeated; and himself and Cleopatra were dead within a year. Octavian became Augustus, possibly the greatest of all Roman Emperors.
