Justinan and the Reconquest

Summer 533 AD to Spring 540 AD.

Justinian's rule represents the time when the Eastern Roman empire attempted to turn the clock back and recapture the various parts of the Western Empire which were now barbarian kingdoms. Justinian was aided by two great generals, Belisarius, possibly the greatest of all Roman generals, and Narses. Starting with the Vandal empire in North Africa, Belisarius and Narses destroyed the Vandals, the Ostrogoths, and recaptured much of the Visigoth kingdom in Spain. However, the gains were liabilities rather than assets and were lost after Justinian's death, wreacking much of Europe and ushering in the Dark Ages.

If there are not enough players for each player to control one power each, the following rules are used:

Two players: One player controls the Empire and the Franks, the other controls the Visigoths, Vandals and Ostrogoths.

Three players: One player controls the Empire and the Franks. One player controls the Vandals and Ostrogoths. One player controls the Visigoths.

Four players: One player controls the Empire and Franks. One player controls the Vandals. One player controls the Visigoths. One player controls the Ostrogoths.
